STORY -Competition

STORY -Competition

Fareeha came from school tired and fatigued. It was a sunny day. Her throat had gone dry. She dashed in her room and instantly lied down to sleep. But she saw her brother Farid offering the Zuhr prayer. Slowly she got up and dragged herself in the bathroom. Performing ablution made her fresh. She stepped out and changed her uniform and stood on the prayer mat and offered her salah. Then as she peeped in Farid’s room expecting him to be asleep, as he too was awake from suhur she saw him reciting the Quran.

She too picked up the Quran and began reciting. She was engrossed in the penetrating verses as she understood Arabic. Soon she heard the call for asr salah. She didn’t realize how time flew away as she completed Surah Baqarah and stood for asr salah. Sleep evaded her she snooped to know about Farid, but he was not in his room. He must have gone to the masjid, she mused.

Wonder how much Quran he read, she was inquisitive. Then she heard the clatter from the kitchen. “Mamma, whats the menu today?” she rushed in only to find Farid applying butter and chutney to the bread. ‘Why can’t I go ahead of Farid in good deeds I win in studies but we should not compete there’ reflected Fareeha.

She wanted to mock him, but then she remembered when we are fasting our tongue too fasts. “Where’s mom” she finally asked Farid. “She is down with fever, I have just given her medicines from Dr Shaikh, just pray she becomes well soon”. Fareeha bit her lip “Farid what will u cook”. She pried over her mom’s recipe book. ‘I thought of making chaat it’s easy and tasty, you love it isn’t it’.

Fareeha’s eyes were moistened she quickly wiped her eyes and went to her mother’s side and as she touched forehead it was quite warm. She had heard Dr Sheikh telling many times keep cool swabs on the head fever will subside. She poured water and soaked a swab to put on her mothers forehead. Farid caught her hand, let mom sleep a while she hasn’t slept a wink when she wakes up you can do that. Now could you help me” and he dragged her out of the room.

Together they cut the fruits and arranged the chaat. And sat to make dua, when their mother came in the kitchen she was surprised when she saw the iftar table with aroma of the chaat. She sat behind the kids thanking Allah for them and as her tears reached her cheeks the call for magrib bought everyone at the table. ‘I lost the competition to Farid mamma’ said an exhausted Fareeha. ‘No, my child” said mamma picking a date and putting in her mouth. ‘The one whose intentions are to please Allah wins” ‘O Allah I fast for you and eat the Blessings you bestowed on me accepts my fast’

Are YOU IN THE RACE

Dear sisters

A Race began 13 days ago, all of us stood at the same start line to begin this very important Race.

We started it all together with the hope to reach the “Finish line”
Some Muslims will stumble and fall during this race and will find it hard to continue it.

The race was to gather more good deeds, with piety and Taqwa and being wary of nafs as satan is locked.

But have we forgotten the purpose and began to waste the time on worthless things forgetting about the real purpose of this Race.

But there are others who will give their best, who won’t stop for a minute during this Race, who will take advantage of every minute of it because they know that the “Prize” is priceless (to be freed from hell fire)!

Who are they?!! They are “THE WINNERS”!
BE ONE OF THEM… you still have time...

TRUE LOVE

If Allaah didn't love us, then Ramadhan wouldn't have been sent down to us as a month of forgiveness and mercy.

This is true LOVE

He wanted to forgive so He bestowed with Ramadan
Then made us eat suhur and said dua at that time will be accepted
He made us eat Iftar and said Dua at that time will be accepted
He gave us Lailatul Qadr ans said whoever stands in prayer he will be given rewards for a 1000 months

He closed the doors of Hell and opened the gates of Heaven and chained our enemy satan and made the other enemy weak so that we show our true Love

Think and answer to yourself Are we standing in prayer to Him ?Has our prayer time increased or still the same? Are we reading Quran and implementing it our lives ? Are we inviting people towards Islam and Quran/? Are we grateful that we are bestowed with Islam/Quran/Ramadan

"Allahumma a`inni ala zikrika, wa shukrika, wa husni `ibadatika"
(O Allah, help me remember You, to be grateful to You, and to worship You in an excellent manner).aameen

SISTERS DONT BE SAD

Dear Sisters,

Allah loves you all so much that you prepare suhur for his sake and feed other souls so that they can do ibadah and feel healthy and fresh the whole day.

Then you also stand to pray and do ibadah while not forgetting the needs of your family for the sake of Allah alone.

YOu prepare their dinner and iftar keeping in mind their choice sacrificing all you desires.

It is narrated on the authority of Amir al-Mu'minin (Leader of the Believers), Abu Hafs 'Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), say:

"Actions are according to intentions, and everyone will get what was intended. " Bukhari and Muslim

so do not forget to add the intention of doing for the sake of Allah and doing in the way which is prescribed by Allah and in the Sunnah way to gain maximum rewards.

Look to what the Sahabi Mu’adhu bnu Jabal (radhyaAllahu ‘anhu) said :'I count on Allah to reward me for sleeping as I count on HIM to reward me when I am awake (and do a good deed)” because through sleeping and getting some rest we are taking care of our bodies as Allah ordered us to do!'

Also wake up sleep, eat, wear clothes etc according to sunnah Also Allah says in the Quran Ch2 V222 Allah loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves." So when we clean the house or wash clothes or utensils or pick the iftar and suhur table we should contantly think Allah u love cleanliness so i making my house clean you make my heart clean.

In this way inshaAllah we will attain the Bliss of paradise in this world.

Healthy and Nourishing Ramadan

Healthy and Nourishing Ramadan By Umme Muhammad
Be prepared

Naila picked up her list of groceries and other necessary items to be collected from the nearby mall in preparation of Ramadan. As they proceeded their trolley was full and almost overflowed her nine year old asked “Mom, Isn’t Ramadan a month of fasting?? So with all this stuff will we ever be hungry”

Plan OUT

Her mother was left pondering. Then she thought over and replied. “All this stuff is for a month, so that I do not go out of stock in mid Ramadan and waste my time shopping. Also I collected things to be given in charity to others, if we won’t give the poor necessary grocery how will they break their fast?”Explained Naila. “ See this is a list of things to be cooked this month to prevent wastage of time thinking what to cook today”

Purpose of Ramadan

“Subhnallah I am glad to have such an organized mom, but how will we feed our soul, what plans for the real purpose of Ramadan our teacher said that the Quran says Oh you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you many learn piety and righteousness" (Q 2:183)” “ I am glad my daughter is growing wiser.” Everyday inshaAllah we will read one juz of the Quran, then the same we will listen the recitation online of Qari Sudais then we will read its tafsir to feed our hungry soul.”

Quran was revealed in Ramadan

Do you know Allah revealed the Quran in Ramadan "Indeed We have revealed it (Qur'an) in the night of Power.Ch97 v1 and it is guidance for all mankind Quran says The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. Ch 2 V185. Also the first battle of badr was fought in Ramadan It means we should invite people towards Islam through Quran which is the criterion and there are many other things to do in Ramadan also in the same verse it continues ‘to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you;and perhaps you will be grateful.’

Practice Quran in our Daily lives

Allah wants us to glorify Him and be grateful for being blessed with the biggest favor of not only Islam but also Ramadan and Quran and the proof that we are grateful for it will be shown in our deeds. How much we practice Islam and Quran in our daily lives not only in Ramadan but also throughout the year. Lots of Voluntary deeds, Zikr and abstaining from bad deeds and sins is the main aspect of fasting . Fighting the nafs, our well built ego and desires.

Character Building

· Fasting builds our character as Abu Hurayrah reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saidFasting is a shield; so when one of you is fasting he should neither indulge in obscene language nor should he raise his voice in anger. If someone attacks him or insults him, let him say: "I am fasting!" (Muslim)
Eating Tips
“But, Mamma what about food?” quipped the nine year old . “Sure Allah has permitted us to break our fast after sunset”. Naila smiled and continued “Allah says We should eat of what Allah has given you, lawful and good (things), and give thanks for Allah’s favor Chapter: 16 , Verse: 114 but we should not exceed limits means over indulgence in eating or wasting food as an ayah says in 17- Chapter: 7 , Verse: 31 o children of adam! attend to your embellishments at every time of prayer, and eat and drink and be not extravagant; surely he does not love the extravagant. So we should eat healthy foods required drinks to help us be able to establish salah and other chores without losing energy.

EAT SMART

Our Body is a Blessing from Allah and we must treat it in the best way. Eat to the point you are NOT hungry. Don’t eat to the point of being full. Eat healthy and smart, exercise with salah, Early to bed and early to rise, and stress management. Eating well helps decreases health hazards and cancer by 50%.
On the authority of Al-Miqdaam ibn Maadiy-Karib who said: I heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: “No human ever filled a vessel worse than the stomach. Sufficient for any son of Adam are some morsels to keep his back straight. But if it must be, then one third for his food, one third for his drink and one third for his breath.” [Ahmad, At-Tirmidhi, An-Nasaa'I, Ibn Majah – Hadith sahih]

Last but not the least CHANGE

“I understood everything, but what should we do after Ramadan?” asked Sarah looking puzzled. “Change inshaAllah , we need to change like every footballer prepares before appearing for his country, we too need to train ourselves through controlling our desires and worshipping Allah so our aim should be getting close to Allah , Closer to the Quran and Sunnah , and close to Islam.” Answered Naila kissing Sarah on her forehead. “InshaAllah’ nourishment not only of body but also soul

WHY DO WE FAST MAMMA??

WHY DO WE FAST MAMMA??

My son Muhammad aged 6 asked me “Mamma, why do we fast in Ramadan”? “Surely Allah does not like to see us hungry or thirsty replied my 13 year old daughter. “Let me explain you with the help of the story of Hanzala” I replied.

Hanzala was 10 year old when he decided he wanted to join the navy. Immediately he had to change from the main stream school to a military boarding school, then he was taught swimming, daily rigorous exercises and diet schedule of eating good healthy food, mountain climbing, digging pits, also remaining hungry for hours together and he underwent many other ways of training.

Although he wasn’t given the badge to wear which he had yearned for years to wear ‘Commandor’ he kept training himself until his goal was achieved. So similarly Allah swt wants us to become His slave for whom he trains us everyday through 5 daily salah and once a year for 30 days through fasting. He shields and protects in this month by locking the satan and making our nafs weak by keeping us hungry so that we do more of Ibadah and keep going closer to Allah.

Hanzala had to abstain from halal food to train him and had to go through rigorous exercises which looked like punishment to achieve his goal so we too abstain from sins like geebah hatred anger gossip to attain the pleasure of Allah. Hanzala finally achieved his goal after working hard for 12 years; he got the prestigious badge shining which he was very proud to show everyone.

But Allah swt gives us a chance to become closer to Him in 30 days and then He remains close for a life time if we achieve it through repentance and constant good deeds. Allah is so merciful he forgives His slaves even when their heart turns to Him in repentance. Our faces become radiant with our Salah and recitation of the Quran and most importantly the Master of the Universe is happy with us. So u see Hanzala achieved a temporary success whilst if we strive hard we could be successful in both the worlds

We also become aware that Allah is As Baseer the All Seeing Al Khabeer the All Knowing. When we perform wudhu we could gulp down a couple of sips of water but we do not do that because we are reminded that no one can see those drops going down my throat but the Al Baseer and Al Khabeer will surely know it. Similarly when no one is at home or we are alone on our way from school we are conscious that Allah is watching me and we do not eat anything and bear the pangs of thirst and hunger to please Him

SO this month trains us to abstain from the halal things by keeping in mind that Allah is watching us so that after Ramadan it is easier to keep away from sins. This is a training period. He has blessed us with suhur and iftar so we do not have to go hungry entirely like other religions.

So let’s get trained and ask for Allah for His mercy, forgiveness, guidance and Taqwa in this Ramadan. I hope you find this useful for your kids too.
